Technical Overview

Engineering breakdown of Benchmarking Zero Trust Tunneling for Edge Cloud (3417). Bare-metal hardware performance requires isolated kernel parameters, deterministic interrupt handling, and userspace dataplane bypass. We evaluate WireGuard, OpenZiti, and custom eBPF tunneling across 12 edge PoPs with 400Gbps aggregate capacity.

Crypto: ChaCha20-Poly1305 (ARMv8 NEON), AES-GCM (Intel AES-NI)

Concurrency: 10K–500K simultaneous tunnels per node

All tests run on Votion Cloud c3.24xlarge (AMD EPYC 9654, 96 vCPU, 384GB DDR5, dual 200Gbps NICs) with kernel 6.8 + custom BPF JIT optimizations.
